Opening in May of '25!
-April 21st Park Update: The inside of the dog area was overseeded in some areas in early April. Grass continues to grow and mature. Southern Star donated and planted 3 trees at the park earlier this month. A climbing apparatus for kids is expected to be delivered within the next week and installation will begin shortly after. The shade canopy will be reinstalled in the next few weeks. Trash receptacles and pet waste/bag stations will be installed soon.
Official park rules will be posted soon. Please familiarize yourself with City Ordinances on pet ID and Dangerous Dogs at City Codes.
We plan to add play equipment for the dogs this coming fall.
Planning for a ribbon cutting/grand opening are in the works and we are targeting an opening before Memorial Day. Thank you for your patience.
Located at 222 Tonganoxie Dr. this 6 acre site sits just across Tonganoxie Creek from Chieftain Park. Generously funded by a substantial contribution from Hill's Pet Nutrition and supported by the Tonganoxie Recreation Commission, the new park will include separate play areas tailored for large and small dogs, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for pets to socialize and exercise. Additional amenities included in the design are concrete parking, shade structure, drinking fountains, pet waste collection stations, a covered picnic area, and a children's play zone. Moreover, the park's design will feature a lighted walking trail that seamlessly integrates with Tonganoxie Drive's existing trail network, enhancing accessibility and connectivity within the community.
