YOUTH PROGRAMS
Life enrichment activities are great opportunities for children to socialize, learn and grow.
 

Special Note: Fee listed 1st is for those that live within the USD #464 School District. 2nd fee listed is for out-of-district participants.

Taekwondo 
While famous for its wide range of kicks, Taekwondo training involves a variety of techniques, including punching, kicking, dodging, jumping, parrying and blocking.  This is a great life long recreational program for the whole family.
When:  Mondays & Thursdays, March 10-May 1st
Where: TES (North Gym)            
Time:  6 – 7PM (Beginners to Green Belts)     
Time:  7 – 8PM (Green Belts & Up)                  
Age:  5 – senior adult
Program Fee:  $40/$48                                          Registration Deadline:  Friday, February 28

Fun with Theatre
Children will play theatre games, learn about the world of mime and masks as well as some theatre basics such as character development, lights, costumes and makeup.  Kindergartners that participate will receive a small part in the Youth Theatre Production: “Tom Sawyer” if they so choose.  1st and 2nd graders must register for the production and audition.

Advanced Theatre Basics
Children will learn about character development and creating a play.  They will learn theatre and improvisation games as well as warm-ups to help with their performance.  The children will use these skills to better their audition.  All are welcome, but this is workshop is STRONGLY recommended for children to plan to audition for the Youth Theatre Production: “Tom Sawyer.”
When: May 27-30

Summer Youth Theatre Production:  “Tom Sawyer”
Parents will complete paperwork while children audition as a group.  Please bring your summer schedule.  Everyone who auditions will get a role.  Rehearsals will begin on Monday, June 17.  Rehearsal days will vary, depending upon the child’s role, but will generally be weekdays with various times between noon-4PM.  Auditions will last up to 2.5 hours.

Time:  5PM

Dress Rehearsal: Thursday, July 18
Performances: Friday, July 11 & Saturday, July 12
Fee: $30/$35 per child or $50/$60 per household

Art Day Camps Print Form>>
Explore different mediums while working on a variety of art projects with local artist, Amy Lawson.  Students will use paints, oil pastels, markers, pencils and more! Space is limited.  Artists 7 – 9 Year of Age

Messy Play
This class is designed for the children to get dirty and creative.  They’ll play with sand, water, finger paints, and other mediums that are too messy to do at home.  Then leave the cleanup to us. A towel and a change of clothes may be a good idea.  Space is limited.
When:  July 8
Where:  Chieftain Park
Time:  10-11AM
Ages:  3-6

Summer Reading Program
Keep your readers reading all summer long at the Tonganoxie Public Library.  Space is limited.  Signup sheets will be available at the library.
Kickoff Event - Fizz, Boom, Read from 1-3PM
Friday Movies - Every Friday from 3-5PM
Young Rembrandts - June 19
Wrap Up Party - Mad Science 11-11:45AM on June 26

Preschool Story Time at the Library
Songs, finger plays & stories, followed by a fun craft project.
When: Tuesdays, at 10:30AM (except for Holidays)

Program Fee: Free
Ages: Birth - 5
No pre-registration required.
